John Foote retired fighter pilot – aviation instructor Hot Dang!! The ride-a-long during my VIR Experience driving day was much the same as my first flight in a fighter jet, an F-86 Sabre.  After a few laps, when I settled down, kind of, only then could I get a feel of how a good driver handles a great racetrack.  “Max performance” turns done right require handling right up to the ragged edge!  I have done many max performance turns in F-4 and F101 fighter jets but never quite so close to the surface of mother earth.  Rent-a-racecar.net gave me the experience of a lifetime.  I’ve made two good friends too.

Austin - Former Student Bob was my instructor @ VIR. He was my first experience with NASA and the HPDE events. He was easy to get along with,purposeful, intentional, personable and his instruction was nearly sub-subliminal. He and I were one with the road. Since VIR I have had four other instructors who either talked way over my head or in two cases I had to ask them to stop talking so much and to keep their hands off the wheel. At the time with Bob I was running a 351w powered Mustang that I thought had some performance. Then Bob took me for a ride in his Cobra (everyone should ride in a Cobra) and found what a stock 302 running gear can really do! Neck snapping performance and acceleration with bear claw like brakes! What a ride. Made my Mustang fell like a Crown Vic! Bob is my kind of automotive enthusiast!
